What was a day of elation for some, was a day of despair for others. The pressure of qualifying for the Olympics all boiled down to the last World Cup event before the Olympic Games. Everybody knew where they ranked going in, and what result they had to get in the final contest to earn their spot in the big show.
The air was heavy at the bottom of the course with final hopes lingering amongst the world’s best skiers as they watched the finals unfold, telling the fate of their futures. Some athletes retired on the spot when they didn’t get the result that they needed, while others shouted in elation as their Olympic dreams were realized. There is no other pressure like it, and to have experienced it twice in my career with a positive outcome is amazing.
I am really confident with my skiing right now, rounding out this run of World Cups with another top ten result. I stood up to some of the challenges and goals that I wanted to accomplish on this course, and I am very proud of that. I am building my Olympic package with the lessons from each day.
I am blessed with another chance to compete for Canada at the Olympic Games. I am taking in as much as I can each day and enjoying this ride. These are the times of my life. I invite you to experience it with me!
