Supporting the Dream Legacy Fund
I founded the Supporting the Dream Legacy Fund in the fall of 2007. It is an endowment fund that will provide financial assistance in the form of bursaries and grants to deserving amateur athletes of the Okanagan. I am inspired to help other local athletes because of the support that I receive from my hometown as an athlete striving for my Olympic goals. I want to see other Okanagan athletes reaching their potential and bringing the community together in health, fitness, inspiration and pride.

1 Step Foundation
I am an ambassador for the newly founded 1 Step Foundation, which was started by freeskier Mark Abma in the spring of 2009. 1STEP aims to find and communicate practical ways for winter sports communities worldwide to practice their sport with environmental sustainability in mind. Whether it’s at a resort or in the backcountry, 1STEP is dedicated to finding ways of reducing carbon emissions and making sure that the environment isn’t harmed in the pursuit of winter play.

Play it Cool
Play It Cool is the largest carbon neutral athlete-driven project in North America. With over 70 elite athlete supporters, we are trying to do our part to affect global climate change. We are committed to making changes in our lives that reduce our climate impact, and we are offsetting our emissions from our travels by purchasing Gold standard carbon offset credits. This helps enable projects like wind farms and solar installations around the world.

Adopt-an-Athlete Program
This is a program that pairs Olympic athletes with schools across the nation. I am paired with the Summerland Middle School in my hometown, with which I correspond and visit regularly while I am preparing for the next Olympics. This program really connects the kids to the athlete, teaching strong values and giving inspiration. The program is designed to also raise funds for the athlete, but I wanted the "adoption" to focus more on the students than on me. So I helped create a program that gives back to the students so they can achieve their dreams. The "I Can Be" legacy fund was launched on April 30, which helps fund scholarships to summer camp programs. I love visiting the kids and sharing stories. They inspire me as much as I inspire them.

I am also very active with public speaking, and have done many appearances for corporate groups, fundraising events, sponsors and schools. I love to get out there to share my story... hoping to inspire someone to go after their dreams and become a better person for it.
Check out this video below for a look at a collaborated school project - 15 schools tuned into this presentation across the country, and were able to actively participate in the converstaion!
